Il existait au sein de l'AVRK des formations pour les mécaniciens et aides mécaniciens depuis 1954, mais pour les formations plus avancées, les officiers et sous-officiers sont envoyés dans les différentes écoles de l'Armée de l'Air Française (Rochefort,...) par groupes ou parfois individuellement. Quelques un sont venus à Salon de Provence. Un officier a poursuivi les études à SupAero à Paris.

From the very beginning in 1954, a basic mechanical school was opened at Pochentong. For the higher education levels, officers and NCOs went to different specialized schools of the French 'Armée de l'Air' in France. Some went to the Air Academy at Salon de Provence. One officer was also graduated at the French National Air and Space Engineering School at Paris, 'SupAero'.

En plus des formations reçues dans l'Armée de l'Air française, des instructeurs américains ont donné des cours techniques spécifiques aux matériels qu'ils fournissent. Comme pour les pilotes, plusieurs techniciens partaient suivre des formations aux Etats-Unis dès les années soixantes.  << Dimang, Nov 1960 - USAF AB                                   Huon, 1974  >> In addition to the courses provided by and within the French Armée de l’Air, we had been trained by Americans instructors for all the materials and equipments furnished by the US. Like the pilots, some engineers went to the USA since the beginning of the sixties.

Au début des années 70, le niveau de la formation technique interne a progressé mais l'AAK a recours au cursus public pour la formation des ingénieurs. A partir de 1971, un recrutement annuel est effectué parmi les élèves ingénieurs de l'Institut de Technologie 'Techno-Russe' à Phnom-Penh. Ils reçoivent trois mois d'Instructions militaires puis repartaient en cours tout en percevant des indemnités correspondant à celles d’un aspirant. En échange, ils doivent effectuer au moins quinze ans de services dans l'AAK. Nous n’avons aucune nouvelle de ces promotions.

In 1971, an annual recruitment was set among the student of the 'Institut de technologie Techno-Russe' at Phnom-Penh. After three months of military training, they went back to the university until the graduation. The selected candidates received a salary equivalent to the one of the Cadets. In exchange, they must sign a 15 years contract with the KAF. We have no news of them.

Au début de la guerre, le matériel hétéroclite de l'aviation khmère fût un casse-tête. Les mécaniciens ont passé bien des nuits blanches. Des mitrailleuses américaines sont montées sur des avions russes et chinois. Plusieurs MiGs ont été envoyés pour être examiné par les services techniques de l’USAF au Sud Vietnam. En plus du manque de pièces de rechanges des avions qui provenaient des pays communistes, il fallait aussi fabriquer bien des outils. Par exemple des chariots élévateurs pour les bombes de 250 Kg à partir de crics de voitures. Dans l’urgence, les Etats-Unis ont livré des munitions mais le matériel de support ne suivait pas. Par ailleurs, les appareils de mesures fournis au début par l'aviation de l’US ARMY n’étaient pas non plus adéquats.
En voyant les photos de nos bricolages, les Etats-Unis ont mis en place une mission d’assistance Air plus importante avec des conseillers et techniciens qui proviennent cette fois-ci de l’USAF.

At the beginning of the war, the heterogeneous equipments of the Khmer aviation were a puzzle. The mechanics spent sleepless nights. They installed Americans guns on the Chinese and Russians planes. Several MIGs were sent to South Vietnam for examination by the USAF technicians. Besides the spare parts of the Eastern European planes, it was necessary to make many tools to match the Americans ammunitions. For instance, they used the car jacks to make lift trucks for the 500lb bombs. Furthermore, measuring tools (pneumatic tyres, etc... ) provided by the US Army Aviation did not fit our planes. When the Americans saw the photos of our manual work we were obliged to do, the United-States speed up the material deliveries and sent new adviser teams that came this time from the USAF.
